In the spirit of my now-static Don't Link website, here is an unauthorized link to a Canadian website that apparently doesn't like being linked to: "Captain Copyright" is a site operated by Access Copyright, the Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency. The site's "Intellectual Property Notice and Disclaimer" prohibits other sites from linking to Captain Copyright if a site's contents, in their opinion, are "damaging or cause harm to the reputation" of Access Copyright. (A similar prohibition appears on the main Access Copyright website.)
Based upon these ridiculous attempts at restricting inbound links (not to mention other outrageous content on the site, as Michael Geist and Laura Murray have noted), I think that Access Copyright is a bunch of doodoo-heads, and Captain Copyright is a stinkybutt poopyhead.
In case I haven't yet annoyed them enough, here's another helpful website with a bit more information on "Captain Copyright and his underage sidekick Trademark Girl."
(A hat tip goes to Wallace J. McLean for alerting me to the Captain's folly.)

I'm sad that you don't update Don't Link any more -- I wanted to offer up WebMD for ridicule. (See "How to Link to WebMD".) Ah well.
Sorry, but it is illegal to link to WebMD's linking policy without accepting their Linking Agreement.
oh my God! so complicated, you cant link to someone without his agreement...weird
I guess the linking policy exists to protect intellectual property rights, such as their trademark registration.
Still, there's probably got to be no way that they can control this. Also, most people would just plead ignorance. But who would want to link to these sites anyway? It certainly doesn't create traffic for the person who's linking to them, as these sites are simply horrible in their content and pretty useless anyway. Besides, who calls their site 'Captain Copyright' ... unless it's a joke? Which it very well might be. Interesting to see people take such a stance on this sort of thing... very weird, in my opinion!
For us to be safe in terms of linking, it is important to abide by any Linking Agreement. The truth is, I’m now confused which comes first trademark or copyright or which one is the prerequisite of the other.
